In 2013, California Building Code adopted requirements for panic bars for maximum accessibility. The new requirements state that the force required to activate operable parts of door hardware can be a maximum of five pounds. This is equivalent to ADA Standards set for Accessible Designs in 2010.
This means that most panic bars are no longer approved by California to be installed on buildings. The panic bars in this collection are all California approved, meeting the building standards for accessibility.
